Annotated Bibliographical Entry: "China's Space Leadership: Decades in the Making"

In this article, Leonard David gives an overview of the development of China's space program. He highlights landmark accomplishments, like the launch of China's first satellite, Dongfanghong-1 and it's first manned mission, Shenzhou. He points out that China got its program started largely because of a deported Cal-tech student H.S. Tsien, who pioneered the space program during Mao's regime. The program, which David describes as "incremental but consistent" (36), is giving China "parity with the other great powers" (36) in the long run.
